Filling and grading a lot
Fill dirt to raise and shape the ground, topsoil last so the lawn can grow.

Set grade stakes and string lines for the finished height and slope.

Spread fill in 6–8 inch lifts and compact each one.

Shape the final grade so water flows away from buildings, then add topsoil.

- Large fills can require a permit and engineering review — check with your municipality.
