Frequently asked questions
How is the price worked out?
Pick a material, a quantity and your ZIP code and you see one delivered price on the spot: material, delivery and sales tax. That price is firm — you only commit when you place the order.
Can I choose the delivery day?
Yes. Pick a preferred date in your quote request and we’ll confirm it or offer the closest available window.
Where will the truck drop the material?
In one spot you choose that a loaded dump truck can reach safely — usually a driveway or a clear, firm area. Describe it in the placement notes. The driver won’t drive onto soft lawn, septic areas or over curbs that could crack.
How do I know how much to order?
Use the calculator: enter the area and depth and it gives cubic yards and an estimated tonnage. Stone and sand are usually ordered by the ton, soil and mulch by the cubic yard.
Is there a minimum order?
You can order as little as one ton or one cubic yard. A dump truck costs the same to send whether it carries 2 tons or 18, so loads under about 10 tons or yards include a short-load delivery charge — you’ll see it in the price before you order.
How much fits in one truck?
A standard dump truck carries up to about 18 tons of stone or sand, or about 20 cubic yards of mulch or soil. Larger orders are split into several loads, which the price already accounts for.
How much extra should I order?
Material settles and spreads unevenly, so add about 20% for small jobs under 5 tons and about 10% for larger ones. The calculator rounds up for you.
Can you get a material that isn’t listed?
Often, yes. Ask Caro in the chat or describe it in a quote request and we’ll check our supplier network.
What’s the difference between limerock and #57 stone?
Limerock keeps its fines, so it compacts into a hard base. #57 is washed, so water drains through it. Many driveways use limerock underneath and #57 on top.
Will the material look exactly like the photos?
Close, not identical. Natural stone, sand and soil vary in color and size from one load to the next.
Do you spread the material?
Standard delivery is a single dump in the spot you choose. If you need spreading, mention it in your request and we’ll tell you what’s possible for that material and site.
Do I need a permit?
Most yard and driveway projects don’t, but large fills, work near canals and seawalls, and some driveway changes can. Check with your city or county before you start.
Do you work with contractors?
Yes. Contractors can order by size code, schedule several loads across a job and keep site notes on file.
